Like many other members of SHARE, I was saddened to learn of the apparent demise of that association in 2005.*

In May 2006 I sent out a questionnaire to SHARE members, former members and contacts to explore support for the possible revival of SHARE. I also requested that the members of the SHARE Committee either revive the organization, or close it down properly and constitutionally. I received no satisfactory response to any of my queries from any of the SHARE officers.

The current SHARE website announces a "World Hodgson Order" (WHO) and contains access to some detailed genealogical information. It is run by one member of the former SHARE committee. This facility is very welcome. But questions concerning the closure of SHARE and the responsibilities of the SHARE commitee members remain.

* It seems, however, that SHARE was closed down unconstitutionally. Clause 9 of the SHARE Constitution states: “In the event of SHARE being dissolved, assets shall be donated to a charitable body chosen by the Committee.” Were there any remaining assets? If so, what has happened to them? Any such assets are the property of SHARE and its members, not any individual.
